Wendy took up the role of Regional Safeguarding Officer for the South East Baptist Association in May 2020 during lockdown which was an interesting way to start in post.
Wendy was privileged to grow up in a Christian home and her father after taking early retirement became a Baptist Minister. She made her own personal commitment to our Lord when she was sixteen and was baptised that same year. She has taught in Sunday School since the age of fourteen and has always been an active member of a Baptist church.
Wendy met her husband at Bromley Baptist Church and after getting married they moved to West Malling where they have been members ever since. She is currently a Trustee/Deacon and continues to teach the 3-11 age group on Sunday morning and use her music skills in playing for worship. They are proud parents to two grown up children and grandparents to two little boys who are a real blessing and bring them lots of fun.
At work Wendy has been a general nurse/midwife and has in recent years worked in a role supporting Children and Families who are vulnerable and needing intensive support. In all of these roles she has been used to dealing with sensitive and challenging situations.
Being able to support our Baptist family in ensuring we have and maintain good practice in safeguarding arrangements is key to her role. When issues do arise to be able to offer straightforward advice and appropriate support to the Church is at the heart of this role.
