DBS Disclosures 

Our DBS checking service is provided by Due Diligence Checking Ltd (DDC) who use a list of verifiers provided by the Baptist Union of Great Britain (BUGB).

To add or remove DBS verifiers for your church please complete the Verifier changes form available from the BUGB website. If you need to check who is listed as your DBS verifiers, please contact the Association Administrator.

DBS Disclosures for ministers

All Ministers/Pastors require an up-to-date DBS disclosure for working in our Churches.

For a Baptist Accredited Minister or Nationally Recognised Pastor ‘the appropriate agency’ for applying for this is the National Safeguarding Team at BUGB. This enhanced disclosure is undertaken by the South Eastern Baptist Association (SEBA) through DDC on behalf of the National Safeguarding Team. Please contact our Association Administrator to arrange for a new DBS or to check when you are due to renew it.

For other ministers you will be expected to hold an enhanced disclosure which will be undertaken by the church. 

Avoid errors when processing applications

When processing an application, always check the form details, before you click ‘submit’, so you can go back and amend it. Even if you realise there is a mistake after you have submitted it, please contact DDC who may be able to amend the application for you; whilst it might be tempting to simply withdraw the application and start again, we would strongly discourage you from doing so. Although DBS checks for volunteers are free for churches to request there is a processing cost which is charged to BUGB and this is applied even when a check has been withdrawn, costing the Baptist Union thousands of pounds each year.
